The Cash Flow Options Tracker

Always the current version. New here? Start at step one. Already running it? Skip to updating.

Current version

  • v1.8, released August 17, 2026. Newest change: Roll a Trade.
  • Your trades, notes and cash moves are never touched by an update. Only the program changes.

New to the tracker? Set it up. Already have it? Update it.

Two numbers run this tracker. Real Cash Flow is the premium you've collected and could have withdrawn the day you collected it. Day-Adjusted Annualized Return is what that cash flow works out to per position and across the whole portfolio, month by month. At any moment you can see what you've made, what capital is still free to trade, and how much you can safely withdraw.

It lives in Google Sheets, it's free, and your copy is completely private to you. Nobody else, including me, can see your data.

Setup

Get your tracker and set it up

About 2 minutes

1. Make your own copy

Open the tracker and make your copy. When Google asks, click Make a copy. If it opens read-only instead, use File → Make a copy. Rename it whatever you like.

2. Turn on the ⚡ Cash Flow Tools menu

At the top of your sheet there's a menu called ⚡ Cash Flow Tools. The first time you click anything in it, Google asks you to approve it. Here's exactly what you'll see, so nothing surprises you:

  • "Authorization required" → click Continue, then pick your Google account.
  • "Google hasn't verified this app" → click Advanced, then Go to Cash Flow Options Tools (unsafe).
  • Click Select all, scroll down, and accept. This lets the menu work with your spreadsheet and show its pop-up windows.

Don't let the word unsafe worry you. It only means this is a small private tool rather than a big public app. It can reach this one spreadsheet and nothing else. Not your other sheets, not your documents, not your email. You only do this once.

3. Two boxes, and you're done

Go to the Settings tab along the bottom. Enter your Starting Capital, the amount you're trading with, and your First Trade Date. Everything else fills in automatically as you log trades.

If a button says it doesn't have permission

That almost always means you're signed in to more than one Google account in your browser. Open the sheet in a window or Chrome profile where the account you made the copy with is the default account, and it'll work.

Update

Update to v1.8

Four steps, every release

You don't step through versions one at a time. Pasting the latest file brings you current from wherever you are, however many releases you've missed.

What's new
Roll a Trade · Income by Month % fix

The four steps

  • Open your tracker, then Extensions → Apps Script.
  • In the code window (Code.gs), click inside it, select all, delete, and paste in the new code. Save with Cmd-S or Ctrl-S.
  • Go back to your spreadsheet tab and reload the page. The menu wakes up on reload.
  • In the ⚡ Cash Flow Tools menu, click ⚙️ Apply Latest Updates.

You'll see a short confirmation of what changed. That's the whole update.

Good to know

  • Your data is safe. Apply Latest Updates only refreshes formulas and structure. It never touches your Trade Log, notes, or cash moves.
  • It's safe to click more than once. If you're already current, it says "Nothing to update."
  • No new permission prompt. The update uses the access you already approved.
  • If you see an "An update is ready" pop-up when you open the sheet, that's just the nudge. Do the four steps when it's convenient.

Release history

v1.8 · Roll a Trade

August 17, 2026

Roll a Trade: extend an open position to a later expiration instead of letting it expire or get called away. Works on Rebound CALLs and on cash-secured PUTs. You enter one number, the net credit your broker quotes, and the tracker writes both legs on the same cycle.

Income by Month percentage fix: the three yield columns at the bottom of the Dashboard now format across the full 12-month window, so a month landing in a future row shows 1.08% instead of 0.0108.

v1.7 · Blended annualized yield

July 17, 2026

The Dashboard's annualized return is now your cumulative return annualized over days since your first trade, rather than a simple average of each month's day-adjusted yield. One unusually short, unusually rich month no longer drags the headline number somewhere it shouldn't be.

v1.6 · Unique Cycle IDs

July 2026

Every cycle gets its own ID, so a position that runs through assignment and several Rebound CALLs keeps all its cash flow in one place.

v1.5 · Covered-call closing and one-click updates

July 2026

Close a Position now handles Rebound CALLs as well as PUTs.

Added Apply Latest Updates, which is what makes every release after this one a paste-and-click.
